A Catholic parochial school, founded in 1958, serving pre-school (3 & 4 year olds) through 8th grade students. All teachers are fully accredited and provide a faith-filled educational environment enlivened by love of learning and respect of self and others that helps students achieve their full potential.
Multi-age and single-grade classrooms provide students with strong core academics as well as vocal and instrumental music, computer, art, and physical education in a family-like atmosphere. Small class sizes allow for individual attention. Strong family involvement is encouraged through an active Home & School Association and parent volunteers. The school is fully accredited by the Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Association.
Updated curriculum throughout the elementary school.
Quarterly Honors Masses will recognize students for their outstanding academic work. Catholic Schools Week gives students opportunities to explore non-traditional activities. All fifth- through eighth-graders participate in the instrumental music program and present two on-site concerts. Field trips for elementary students are integrated into the class curriculum.
Students score above state and national norms on tests. Majority of graduates consistently are named to high school honor rolls; various Spooner High School valedictorians attended St. Francis de Sales Elementary School.
Approximately 100 students; comprised of Catholic and other Christian believers.
Eleven full-time teachers supplemented by three specialist teachers for, vocal and instrumental music, art, and physical education; one support staff for reading, math, and religion, along with a full-time principal.
The Mission of St. Francis de Sales School, in conjunction with the cluster parishes of St. Joseph’s and St. Catherine’s, and the Diocese of Superior, is to provide Catholic education of the highest quality to students from three-year old preschool through 8th grade in Spooner and the surrounding areas. Welcoming students of all faiths, we offer a well-rounded academic curriculum with opportunities for individualized attention in a faith based Catholic education environment. With love and respect for each one as a child of God, students are encouraged to develop their faith, talents, Christian character and the virtues of discipline, responsibility and empathy to their fullest potential. In a family-like atmosphere, St. Francis de Sales School strives to make the world a better place starting in our own homes and surrounding community.
