I currently teach 2nd grade and have been privileged to enjoy 32+ years in education, instructing and coordinating learning for ages 0 to 99. I started my career here, alongside our Nuns, as the third and fourth grade teacher (double classroom) at SFdS after graduating from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in Elementary Education. I then completed a Master's Certificate in Community Education. I worked in public education for the majority of the in-between years, earning masters certification in Community Education to further engage lifelong learners. Teaching in area schools, starting my own business in childcare, and serving the Spooner community as a Department of Public Instruction AmeriCorps VISTA-Volunteer In Service to America-member (fondly called the home-land Peace Corps) have been an impactful part of my journey.
My family, believing strongly in a solid Catholic education, moved to the Spooner area because of St. Francis de Sales school and parish during my middle school years. I am now blessed with a very supportive husband, two grown children who work in the service sector, a daughter-in-law (who also teaches 2nd grade), and three active grandchildren (so far).My passions when I have extra time, besides the exciting world of learning, include local theater and chorale groups, hiking, biking, cooking, and reading. Of course, my favorite way to pass those fleeting, lazy afternoons is spending time with family and friends.
