The Order of Secular Servants of Mary (OSSM) is a community of lay persons and (Diakonia families) affiliated with the Servite Order. We are moved by the spirit to live the Charism of compassionate service to others, following the footprints of Mary, Mother and Servant of the Lord. We are guided by the Rule and rich heritage of Marian service, tradition and prayer to live our Baptismal consecration according to the Word of God, as He speaks to us in our own everyday living. The Ideal is to reach perfection in following Christ, and so we deepen our knowledge of Mary, the Virgin of Sorrows, and her place in the mystery of salvation. We meet together in prayer and to further our knowledge and strengthen each other in loving service to all. New members are welcome.
The Knights of Columbus founding principles are charity, unity and fraternity. The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted through educational, charitable, social welfare, war relief and public relief efforts. The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service. Under the motto “Keep the Faith Alive,” the Order’s vocations initiative has a number of programs based on prayer and designed to reach the hearts and minds of young people, as well as to provide financial support during their years of seminary training and religious formation. The Seven Sisters Apostolate consists of seven women who commit to offering a Holy Hour once a week before the Blessed Sacrament for the sole intention of their pastor. It is a "holy wasting" (cf. Mt. 25-10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ. The commitment is for one year - June to June (month of the Sacred Heart). Substitutes are needed in the apostolate should one of the "sisters" be unable to fulfill her weekly Holy Hour. For more information call the Parish Office at (715) 635-3105.
